I just finished my standing desk and I really enjoyed building it. The plans were well put together and written in such a way that anyone could follow them and make a great desk. This was certainly a challenging build for the quality and selection of tools that I have at my disposal but it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot from it. This desk is a piece of furniture that I will probably have for the rest of my life.
I wish the desk could lower a few more inches. Even with tilting the desk down a bit it is still too tall to use a standard height chair. Also, this desk was way more expensive to build than what was listed on the plans. Perhaps Tommy knows where to get things on the cheap, but I certainly paid more than I expected for just about everything. I had to install a speed controller, which wasn’t too hard. My two actuators still don’t run at the same speed but the desk is functional. One actuator runs faster when going up but runs slower when going down.
I am looking forward to seeing more designs coming up on this website.

I just completed your standing/sitting desk out of Sapele I had laying around my shop for some time. The project came out very nice and I am sure my wife will enjoy her birthday present but if she doesn’t I will immediately reclaim the desk for myself. I just wanted to compliment your painstaking work with the plans and project. The level of detail in the plans is truly impressive I can easily see how you could spend close to a year getting prototypes, plans and videos completed to this degree of precision. I gave every tool I own a workout on this project, especially my jointer and planer, but if you’re well equipped and moderately experienced this is a great project. I wish you well in your business venture.

Great plan for it’s purpose. I did make some modifications to suit my needs of a standing computer desk rather than a drafting table.

This is by far the most complicated build I have ever done but the plans made it a breeze.
The most difficult parts were cutting the feet to a similar size and attaching the upper cross brace to the leg shaft while ensuring it does not bind to the leg box.
